New Ironclad trailer online
There's a new trailer online for Ironclad, a film about the tyrannical King John who having signed the Magna Carta to uphold the rights of people throughout the land, reneged on his word and raised an army of mercenaries to go against the barons who had forced him to sign it. With a group held up in Rochester Castle, holding out against his might, a last stand is made.
The film stars a fair cast of names, and is promising uncompromising action and a splattering of reality, something that most medieval films don't really want to touch on.
Ironclad has also come under a bit of flack too, and this trailer doesn't really help I think. It has a strange score to it, which does work to be fair but does portray the film in a different way than I thought it was heading. It's being sold more as a Hollywood action film, setting up the heroes and villains quite clearly, and with footage that doesn't quite look like it's ready for release.
Ironclad stars Paul Giamatti, Charles Dance, Brian Cox, Jason Flemyng, James Purefoy, Derek Jacobi, Mackenzie Crook and Kate Mara, and so you would be expecting a lot from the film. Will it deliver? I think the trailer looks rather good, and I'm willing to forgive a lot of it for the hopes of what is promised from the story and the actors involved.
What about you? Take a look at this new unrated trailer which I noticed through Deadline and is embedded from YouTube below:
I'm hoping it gives us something powerful with more meat than a Hollywood action film.
