Total Recall gains Hawke...
Slow, deep breaths though, it's only as a cameo. Still with Colin Farrell taking the lead and Bryan Cranston playing the villain it's a good cast so far, and you'll remember Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel are in talks for the female lead. You'll also be aware that this isn't the Mars story anymore and it's all about huge corporation espionage with Farrell's character not knowing if he's a spy and for what side. The Hollywood Reporter has the story.

Gary Gray's next heist with Worthington...
F. Gary Gray is a director I always get excited about, for he's given us some great thrillers and always manages to deliver something exciting to the screen. His next is called The Last Days of American Crime and sees a new thought monitoring device being brought in that will eradicate crime. It's set to be turned on at a certain date and Sam Worthington will play a career criminal who is going to pitch one last big job before the device is turned on. The Hollywood Reporter tells us it's actually a graphic novel adaptation and already the idea sounds interesting, not just because Gray is directing.

Houston in Exhale sequel?...
For me Whitney Houston has one of the saddest tales of stardom, but not sad in a sympathetic way but in a rather pathetic way. So with news that she's going into rehab again she's also joining the cast of Getting Happy Again, the sequel to Waiting to Exhale. Angela Bassett confirmed through USA Today that the original cast of Whitney Houston, Bassett, Loretta Devine and Lela Rochon are returning now that the sequel novel is being adapted for film, and that Forest Whitaker is set to direct with Terry McMillan, the writer of the novels, set to write the screenplay. Are we set for a Lohan-esque production?

Depp is The Thin Man...
It's been rumoured, on and off but Deadline says The Thin Man remake with Johnny Depp is happening with Rob Marshall directing the remake of the 1934 film about a husband and wife who solver murders, a Mr and Mrs Marple if you will.

Hunnam to lead Pacific Rim...
There is a joke in there somewhere but I'm not going to do it, I'll leave it to you to find. However the news is that the excellent Charlie Hunnam - haven't you watched the superb Sons of Anarchy? - is in negotiations to lead Pacific Rim, the upcoming film from Guillermo del Toro. The film sees aliens attacking the Pacific Rim and humanity creating huge robots to fight them. Good casting and great news for Hunnam who is a superb actor. The story comes from The Hollywood Reporter.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre continues...
Another one according to Deadline, and in 3D. The director of Takers, John Luessenhop, is directing. I want to say no more about it.

The 39 Clues goes to Ratner...
Once Spielberg was off the project it seemed only natural to get Brett Ratner to direct the adaptation of The 39 Clues, the young-adult (I hate that phrase) series of novels which tells the story of the most powerful family in the world with a secret to their power hidden within each of the books. The story from Deadline reminds us that Jeff Nathanson wrote the script and has previously worked with Ratner, so this could actually be a good fit.
