Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II trailer
This new trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II features a lot of footage that I didn't see in the recent trailer I saw before Super 8 in Canada just last week. It features plenty of shots to tie it to the rest of the series, and plenty of moments that you might not want to play at slow speed.
Thankfully it doesn't show a death scene that the theatrical trailer I've seen does, a scene that tells you a character has died and it doesn't take much to guess who it is, even if you haven't read the books.
This trailer is epic and exciting, but I still find myself asking why in 3D? After all these films why make the very last one in 3D? It's not to add anything to the series or to try and get more people to see it, after all this hardly needs much advertising and marketing does it?
I can't help but feel that this is another attempt to validate 3D itself, by adding it to a huge and popular franchise like Harry Potter, perhaps it will allow the gimmick to stick even more than it has so far. Regardless of that, what effect will making the last film in 3D have on the franchise? What will Potter fans think of it?
Well apparently 3D box office figures are dropping, so I'm hoping it doesn't stick, and I wish they wouldn't tack it onto the last film in this franchise. At least there doesn't seem as though there are too many deliberate 3D moments in the footage of the trailer.
Here's the blurb for the story we all know. It's the final part of the Harry Potter story, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II.
"With three of Voldemort's six horcruxes destroyed, Harry, Ron and Hermione must find the rest. One of them is a fabled Cup that once belonged to Helga Hufflepuff, one of the founders of Hogwarts, but the other two remain mysteries. They deduce both Gringotts and Hogwarts are likely hiding places, but will the mystical yet real Deathly Hallows prove to be a crucial part in the unfolding of events? Lord Voldemort has gained possession of the all-powerful Elder Wand, strengthening him further, but who really is its true master? Did the fateful events of 16 years ago have even more impact than Harry thought? All of these questions must be answered for ultimate Battle of Hogwarts, where the final showdown between Harry and the Dark Lord will determine the fate of both the wizarding and muggle worlds for the rest of eternity.
Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley continue their search for Lord Voldemort's Horcruxes, which ultimately leads up to an epic battle at Hogwarts."
Now here's the powerful trailer.
