Update: Killer Elite trailer
I am in love with the trailer for Killer Elite. Is it the fact it's the first trailer I saw back from holiday, the Ford Cortina I saw, the soundtrack of the Scorpions "Rock You Like A Hurricane", the fact that Clive Owen and Jason Statham are looking like hard assed assassins fighting each other in just about every scene, the appearance of Yvonne Strahovski, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje or other recognisable names, or is it that it's adapted from the Ranulph Fiennes novel?
Well they are all great aspects to the trailer that get me excited, but there's something more, the fact that Robert De Niro stars and that he's looking damned hard himself in the trailer. There are a couple of moments where he looks like he's entering into a fist fight himself.
Killer Elite is, apparently, based on a true story, although how much is really true I'm not sure we'll really know. The story for Killer Elite has a retired SAS soldier returning to save his mentor who has been kidnapped. Between the soldier and his mentor are three assassins sent to kill him by the kidnapper.
Sounds pretty interesting, but nothing unusual for Jason Statham who plays the SAS soldier and not overly surprising for Clive Owen who has played a couple of roles that would put him in a good position for this film.
However watch the trailer and there's promise of a lot more, and it looks like great fun to see Owen against Statham like this, and the big surprise is that Robert De Niro looks so damned good in it with a couple of scenes that suggest he's about to get into a fight.
I'm loving the trailer. Here's a blurb for the film.
" Based on a true story, Killer Elite races across the globe from Australia to Paris, London and the Middle East in the action-packed account of an ex-special ops agent (Jason Statham) who is lured out of retirement to rescue his mentor (Robert De Niro). To make the rescue, he must complete a near-impossible mission of killing three tough-as-nails assassins with a cunning leader (Clive Owen)."
Now let's get to that trailer which you can also see in high definition Quicktime over at Yahoo Movies.
Update: The trailer has appeared on Apple Trailers in Quicktime and boy is it looking good. Everytime I watch this I get a wry smile on my face, the awesomeness of Statham, the coolness of Owen, and that track just combine perfectly. Bring it.
