Rise of the Planet of the Apes new trailer
The argument about whether they should be making a new Planet of the Apes film, particularly one that changes the whole storyline about the creation of them in the first place, has passed now for Rise of the Planet of the Apes is here and the latest trailer tells us just that.
However that doesn't mean there aren't questions. For instance a genetically engineered spike in intelligence wouldn't be immediately passed through in breeding, so I'm wondering where all the Apes come from to start defeating man. I mean that would take a lot wouldn't it?
The new trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes looks good, and the shots of the apes in context make them look much more realistic than the stills or focused special effects shots we've seen to date. Most of these shots look realistic and carry the weight of reality. I'm sold on them in the trailer.
What it also shows is that Ceaser is the single ape who has been infected with the gas that alters the brain to allow it to learn much faster, and that he takes more of the gas and gives it to all the apes that are in captivity with him. However is that enough for an army to take over the armed police force, the army, and ultimately the armies of the world?
Surely that would take an intensive breeding program and a huge step in evolution. I think for me the science is going to be a sticking point for how quickly the apes can overcome humans, and at some point the issue of how they build the army and sustain the intelligence is going to have to be addressed.
However, in the meantime this is entertainment and the new trailer is here and looking good, and with Rupert Wyatt directing I'm sure we're going to get something extra.
It comes from Yahoo Movies where you can see it in Quicktime high definition by selecting the HD button, and in the meantime here's a viewable version right here:
