Roland Emmerich directing Asteroids...
Roland Emmerich is set to direct the film adaptation of the video game Asteroids. Now while many think it's a joke the openness of the story for Asteroids (read lack of) allows them to make any kind of film with any kind of plot. N.Y. Magazine through Latino Review tell us that the script will take place in a future where Earth has been destroyed or abandoned and humans live in far off space colonies where we were brought after aliens saved us. The truth is though it looks like they're actually trying to destroy us. Mmm, didn't do a good enough job then if that's the case, and that plot sounds far from the game asteroids I've played. Who would have guessed it would have been a disaster film?

The Wolfman reboot...
Seriously, a reboot of the reboot and so soon? The reboot didn't do so well, despite a big cast and some big names on the production, after the first director was moved on Joe Johnston didn't have long to make it according to the studio's vision. News from Moviehole through Latino Review is that there's a new reboot being planned and it might just be called Werewolf to distance itself. Really, a reboot of a reboot?

Matt Damon to start directing...
Matt Damon is to start directing according to N.Y. Magazine through Latino Review, and his first project might well be Father Daughter Time, a story about a criminal on the run with his daughter, and Damon will also play the lead. Will he be able to follow in Ben Affleck's shoes?

Mark Wahlberg says Fighter 2 is happening...
Speaking at the Spike awards through Latino Review Mark Wahlberg revealed that the famous Ward-Gatti fights were kept out of The Fighter (Filmstalker review) because they were to be a complete film in themselves, and so cue The Fighter 2. These three fights from 2002 to 2003 saw two of them become named Fight of the Year by Ring Magazine, and this is the part of the story that is most identified with Micky Ward, so there is more to come.

World War Z casting...
World War Z looks like it is creeping forward as word comes through Bloody Disgusting and Latino Review that Ed Harris and Matthew Fox have joined the cast. No other announcements unfortunately, the good news is that it's still happening.

Green Lantern sequel?...
Looks like there's going to be a Green Lantern sequel despite what you might have thought of the recent film. The Hollywood Reporter has "sources" that say it's going to happen. Well I'd be surprised, there are better characters out there to pursue.

I'm fine with the 'Wolfman'/'Werewolf' 'reboot of a reboot'...aren't all werewolf movies 'reboots' unto themselves? Obviously you just want to do it better the second time. How many friggin' vampire movies can a human being handle in a lifetime? Keep them werewolf movies coming by any means possible.

I'd disagree that all werewolf films are reboots, you could then just drop out the word werewolf and substitute anything - vampire, boxer, road - there have been and can be very different stories even under that genre. Compare The Howling to An American Werewolf in London to Underworld.
