Margin Call trailer online
A film about the financial crises, well the first day of the financial crisis to be exact, doesn't sound that exciting as a thriller, a documentary perhaps, but not a dramatic thriller. Yet to all accounts Margin Call brings us just that, a dramatic thriller about the first day of the financial crises, about the first people to discover it and how their actions affect the rest of the financial world.
The film stars Zachary Quinto, Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Simon Baker, Demi Moore, Stanley Tucci, Jeremy Irons, Mary McDonnell and Penn Badgley, so it's no small film but it is the first feature from writer and director J.C. Chandor.
What's perhaps most interesting about this trailer is the way that it looks at the crises, from patient zero's point of view you could say, just before the outbreak of the collapse took hold. One company sees the figures and takes immediate action to save itself, thus putting the financial world at risk.
Here's the blurb for Margin Call.
When analyst Peter Sullivan unlocks information that could prove to be the downfall of the firm, a roller-coaster ride ensues as decisions both financial and moral catapult the lives of all to the brink of disaster.
How accurate to actual events this is we can't be sure unless you know the actual events, it's always the way with film, but here I think we'll gain a very clear understanding of some of the motives behind what happened and perhaps an insight into why. Plus it's all wrapped up in what could be a very entertaining thriller.
Strong cast, strong images, and some powerful moments. Could this turn out to be a hit and how much will it shape people's understanding of what actually happened?
