Fireflies in the Garden trailer

FirefliesintheGarden.jpgHow did this film take so long to be released in America? It was made in 2008 and was only released in May 2009 in the UK, meandering through a release list until it's finally ended up back where it was made. It's especially surprising as it stars Julia Roberts, Willem Dafoe, Ryan Reynolds, Emily Watson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Ioan Gruffudd and Hayden Panettiere.

Still it has taken this long and a trailer has popped up to remind some of us what it was all about.

I'll refrain from using the entire blurb for the film, not that it's filled with spoilers, just because the one I found isn't that descriptive. Instead here's the summary:

The semi-autobiographical story centers on the complexities of love and commitment in a family torn apart when faced by an unexpected tragedy.

Fireflies in the Garden stars a big cast, and I'm still amazed that it's taken so long to arrive in the US, perhaps that's because of the character Julia Roberts plays, maybe American audiences couldn't deal with it? No, I don't believe that's true.

Here's the trailer which looks really rather good, so again I'm wondering why.

You can see it at Yahoo Movies in HD as well. Definitely worth a look for some strong, serious performances and no doubt some heart wrenching moments.
