Page Eight trailer
Page Eight is a quite efficient trailer. It sets a mood and delivers recognisable faces, questions and a few motivational hooks to bring you to the story and let you understand a little of what's going on, a little that is, for there's a lot more to come.
The film is a thriller starring Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Ewen Bremner, Felicity Jones, Richard Lintern, Judy Davis, Saskia Reeves and more, and comes from the writer and director David Hare - writer of The Reader, The Hours and Damage.
I think that should be enough to hook you into Page Eight, but it has to be said that although the trailer is efficient it does a pretty good job itself.
The film tells the story of an MI5 officer whose boss, and who happens to be his best friend, dies suddenly leaving behind a file which has such information in it that it threatens to bring down the organisation. Events then overtake him and he has to track down the truth behind the file and the young woman who has recently entered his life before it's too late.
From all accounts it's a BBC film that is going back to the spy films of the past, slower more thoughtful thrillers that aren't packed high on action but are more intrigue and thoughtful than anything, which is what the intelligence community sees a lot more of than running across roof tops.
