Trespass trailer delivers
I'm not sure what I was expecting from Joel Schumacher's Trespass. I mean with Nicolas Cage my expectations were lowered, but then there's Nicole Kidman alongside him. Now I've seen the trailer I'm not sure which way it's going to go. It does look slick, well filmed, and stylish, and the tension and action builds and builds to the close of the trailer, but will the film deliver anything different?
It also stars Cam Gigandet, Ben Mendelsohn, Dash Mihok and Liana Liberato, and there's the hint of something extra in the trailer, but is it going to be different enough?
The story is about a rich family whose house is invaded by a gang of criminals intent on gaining access to the money and diamonds they know are in the house. The father is resistant, he knows that as soon as they hand everything over they'll be killed, and so he bargains, pleading for his wife and daughter to be released before he hands everything over. From here their predicament becomes darker and darker as their options narrow and betrayals and deceptions begin to surface.
Trespass seems an interesting enough story, although for most of it we could say that we've seen it before. However it's the promise of the betrayals and deceptions and the reveal of only one in the trailer that suggests to me there's more to come from this film and it isn't just a simple betrayal and escape story.
If you don't like the horrible Yahoo Movies embedded player, like myself, then you can head over there and hover the cursor over the HD button to see the various sizes of Quicktime file to view, far better.
What do you think? I think it delivers what was expected and promises a little more, but it hasn't set the world alight for me.
