The Expendables 2 casting excites
There's some news on the casting for The Expendables 2 with a rumoured cast list appearing and more importantly confirmation of three of its biggest stars returning for more than they were in the first film. Well, that's not entirely true, obviously Sylvester Stallone is returning to be one of the major leads but that's a given.
The other two names we're interested in are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis, and the exciting news is that they are set to return and have just signed their contracts for substantial roles in the new film.
What could substantial roles mean? Well bear in mind that this is what Deadline state they have signed up to in their contracts, it's nothing official and we can't find out just yet how substantial that would prove to be. The good news is that they are returning and I think it would be safe to say that their roles are bigger than they were in the first film.
Does that mean we could see Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis take to some action in the film? Well Schwarzenegger is about to return in Jee-Won Kim's Last Stand, and we know Willis is up for it as he's ready to hit Die Hard 5 from John Moore and then the Red sequel with the same director.
I think it's fair to say that the pair are up for it, the question is will they be major players in the film or will their roles just flit in and out of the main story? I know that what I still want to see are the three of them taking equal roles and getting in the thick of it with a classic action film, but I'm not sure if we'll see that.
Other news comes from Moviehole through Latino Review who are suggesting that the concrete cast list is: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Scott Adkins, and Chuck Norris.
The word is that Norris' role will be a small one like Schwarzenegger and Willis had in the first film, perhaps as a starter to see if he'll do a third, because if this film works at the box office you just know they'll make another one. Of course that all depends on how well Simon West does with the sequel, for Sylvester Stallone isn't directing this one.
Is that the cast you're after then? Do you want to see Schwarzenegger and Willis return to full on action roles and star right alongside Stallone?
