Hostel Part III trailer
I'm not that interested in a third Hostel film, I think we've seen all we're going to see from the series and all that's left now is to deliver more of the same with more gruesome and inventive ways of killing people, a bit like the Saw series. However there's something that made me want to see what The Hostel: Part III was all about.
It's directed by Scott Spiegel who also directed From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money and written by Michael D. Weiss who last wrote Journey to the Center of the Earth and The Butterfly Effect 2 before that.
The film is bypassing the cinema, and I think you can probably tell why when you see the trailer, and it takes the Hostel story to Las Vegas, which seems to negate one of the primary scary factors of the series that you're in a foreign land with different customs, laws and no easy route home. In Las Vegas you really don't have that same level of fear.
Here's the blurb for Hostel: Part III:
High stakes gambling takes on a sinister new meaning in this third chapter of the terrifying Hostel series. While attending a bachelor party in Las Vegas, four friends are enticed by two sexy escorts to join them at a private party way off the Strip. Once there, they are horrified to find themselves the subjects of a perverse game of torture, where members of the Elite Hunting Club are hosting the most sadistic show in town.
So in Hostel: Part III the base of operations is Las Vegas and there's a big betting syndicate behind it, people can bet on how people are tortured and what they're killed with and so on. I have to admit there are some interesting turns to it, but in the trailer it looks too slick and clean and loses quite a bit of what made it scary in the first place.
