New trailer for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn

TintinSecretoftheUnicorn.jpgA new trailer for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn has arrived online and it does offer something more than the ones we've seen previously, more of the overall story, more of the other characters, and more of the 3D effects we're going to be seeing.

This trailer has a much more action orientated feel to it with a constantly moving camera and perhaps most of the action scenes referenced, although I'm sure that Steven Spielberg has many lined up for us.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn is, and I've said this before, the first motion capture film where I feel it's right to have motion capture and works in context, mainly because Tintin and the characters look like they do in the comic books.

Rather than take people, put them through a computer, and make them look computer generated trying to look real, the characters here inhabit a comic book reality and they're taking people, putting them through a computer and making them look like the comic. Now that works much better than the previous motion captures we've seen.

I've never understood the desire to motion capture people to create performances where people should have been used in the first place. Here there's a valid reason for it and we really do experience the world of Tintin. At least that's what it looks like from the trailers, let's hope the films keep to that.

Of course with Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson behind them, what else is there to expect? I'm really excited to see what Spielberg is going to deliver for us in this first film, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, and this new trailer through First Showing is the best so far.

Mind you, there are plenty of swooping shots and depth of movement in the shots, there's nothing that feels as though it's deliberately flying at the camera, but there is plenty of stacked action in many of the sequences which I'm sure will look good on 3D.

Here's the new trailer:
