Lone Ranger is a go...

Attack the Block sequel?...

Marie Curie biographical film...
Marie Noelle has written and is set to direct a film about the famous physicist Marie Curie and they've got the funding for the German and Polish production. Noelle and Peter Sehr are currently co-directing Ludwig II another historical drama, this one about the 19th century Bavarian king. Now I bet you'd never have guessed that story from Variety.

Top Gun sequel gains writers...
News comes that two of the writers of X-Men: First Class, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, are the first to attempt to write a sequel to Top Gun. Empire, who have the story through ShowBlitz, remind us that Tony Scott is involved in the sequel and is most likely directing, and that the two writers have an idea from Christopher McQuarrie to build on - the sequel will follow the move from the Top Gun pilots of old to the technological drone pilots we see today, and will see more of in the future. Still sounds rather boring to me.

Downey's an Accidental Genius...
I missed this the other week but the Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey production company has picked up a pitch for a film by Adam Gibgot called The Accidental Genius. It follows a man who suffers from a known condition where he wakes up from a coma with a highly increased intelligence and new mental capabilities. Another thing he wakes up with is a symbol in his mind, one that a burnt out prodigy recognises too, and together they head off to solve a hundred year old mystery which, as Deadline say, could change the world. Well, they'd hardly make a film about a mystery that couldn't.

Lone Ranger is a go...
...again. It seems that the Lone Ranger film is happening. After Disney were so scared of the US $275 million budget they decided to take it down to a mere $215 million, which doesn't seem that much different to me. The stars are all there with Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer leading the way and Gore Verbinski (see aforementioned insane budget for a Western) still in charge according to Deadline. I predict this will not rain in the profits the studio hope for.

Attack the Block sequel?...
According to Joe Cornish through IFC and JoBlo, Attack the Block has a number of offers to deal with just now, a sequel, an American remake and even a television series. Unlike most I can actually see where an American remake would work, for the original is very English based and it would change a lot to take it across the water.
