This Means War trailer turns me around
I've gone through a rollercoaster of emotions on this trailer. Tom Hardy pulled me up; the other names kept me steady; the blurb plummeted me to the bottom; the opening raised me to the top; the mid section right back down again, and surprisingly, by the end, I was back up there. I think the trailer won.
This Means War is the story of two CIA agents who work together in the most dangerous operations and are best of friends. They reveal to each other their respective girlfriends and discover they're dating the same woman. Deciding to let her choose the won she wants to date they set about trying to ruin each other's dates with her, spy style.
It's the action and the comedy from those situations that won me over I think in all honesty, that and seeing Tom Hardy doing something totally different to what we're used to - remember this guy played the lead in Bronson (Filmstalker review).
If it wasn't for Hardy I think the lure of McG, Simon Kinberg, Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon might have just raised my interest, but it's the fact Hardy's in the film that made me watch the trailer.
Oddly I'm glad I did. It looks like a lot of fun, and sometimes we do need fun, however silly it turns out to be - pistol shooting a Predator drone while driving a car is a little insane, but then it's fun.
Here's the official blurb to get the feel for the way the film is being marketed:
The world's deadliest CIA operatives are inseparable partners and best friends until they fall for the same woman. Having once helped bring down entire enemy nations, they are now employing their incomparable skills and an endless array of high-tech gadgetry against their greatest nemesis ever - each other.
Already there are people saying this is rubbish because of so and so, but come on, it does look fun doesn't it? I mean McG and Kinberg together will deliver some stylish action, and it has a good cast.
