Lovelace's Inferno gains Sharon Stone

SharonStone.jpgNo, she won't be playing Linda Lovelace, but the news of Sharon Stone being cast as the mother of Lovelace tells us that not only is the film Lovelace moving forward, but the much talked about film Inferno is still moving forward, slowly, and it still has its lead.

Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story was the film that was first announced to tell the story of Linda Lovelace, and that it was controversially casting the "actress" Lindsay Lohan. However that fell through as her behaviour went from inconvenient to disruptive for the production and we soon heard that Malin Akerman was to play the lead.

However the last news we heard on the Linda Lovelace front was from the competing biographical film called Lovelace which was looking like casting Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard in the leading roles.

So what of Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story? Well after the quiet period, talk of funding problems on both films, and then the recent news on Lovelace, Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story has come out with some strong news.

According to the story of casting in The Hollywood Reporter Malin Akerman is still in place to play the lead character of Linda Lovelace and that now Sharon Stone is signed to play her mother in the film.

It certainly sounds like the project is moving forward then, you wouldn't sign Sharon Stone if you didn't have budget and a production that was moving.

Matthew Wilder is directing the film which is adapted from the novel Ordeal: An Autobiography by Linda Lovelace with Mike McGrady (Amazon.co.ukAmazon.com / ), which looks set to tell Lovelace's story from her viewpoint.

So the two productions are still competing, and I wonder if we'll get to see them both get made. They certainly both have strong casts so there's no clear winner on that front, but will they cover the same material and present the same story? I think they will end up going head to head, if you'll pardon the pun, because there's not a great deal else to present in the story of Linda Lovelace is there?
