I, Frankenstein gaining female lead...
Set to join the already announced Aaron Eckhart, Miranda Otto and the in negotiations Bill Nighy for I, Frankenstein is Yvonne Strahovski from Chuck according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Stuart Beattie film is the adaptation of the comic from Kevin Grevioux which sees Frankenstein's monster running from demons trying to capture the secret of his reanimation while he tries to find a place for himself in humanity.

Jolie as Gertrude Bell for Ridley Scott...
Waiting for the Blade Runner sequel? Wait on, for Ridley Scott has a biographical film of the explorer, archaeologist and representative of the British Empire abroad Gertrude Bell, in development and who else would play her but Angelina Jolie? According to the story from The Hollywood Reporter through First Showing he's considering it as his next directorial project, and it would be rather more epic than the real life Tomb Raider that the cinematic description of Bell suggests, for she was a forerunner in the development of some of the Empire's reach in the Middle East.

Ender's Game finds lead...
The adaptation of Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game by director Gavin Hood looks like it's found the lead for the film, Asa Butterfield, the lead of Martin Scorsese's upcoming Hugo, according to Deadline. The story sees a future where children are recruited by the government and trained in a game which will teach them to fight an alien race attacking Earth, one child emerges as a genius in the game and is set to lead their fight back.

Hunger Games sequel being written...
No surprise really considering The Hunger Games is itself a series of novels and the first is just adapted, filmed and waiting for release, but the sequel has just received the go ahead and the studio are looking for a writer according to Deadline. The writer of Slumdog Millionaire (Filmstalker review), Simon Beaufoy, is being looked to for the task of adapting the second novel which Gary Ross will direct. Ross directed the first film and apparently had intended to start work on the sequel with author Suzanne Collins, however the schedule for the films is just too much.

Eastwood in one more role...
There I was thinking that Clint Eastwood had retired from acting, but according to Variety he's doing to co-star next to Amy Adams in a film called Trouble With The Curve and Robert Lorenz, production partner of Eastwood's, is currently in talks to make the leap to director for the film. Eastwood would play an aging Baseball scout losing his sight who takes a road trip to Atlanta to see a potential signing, he takes his estranged daughter along for the trip. Apparently Sandra Bullock was also being considered for the role.

Beatty's Howard Hughes film gains lead...
Warren Beatty is still set to direct a film about Howard Hughes and although there's been a lot of rumour about who would star in the film, so far there's no official casting, until now. Deadline through First Showing say that Felicity Jones is set to play the female lead who falls for Hughes' driver and confidante before falling for Hughes himself. Tons of big names are rumoured all over the place for the film, including Beatty himself, but Jones is the first.

Tarantino's Django Unchained casting...
I've been staying away from the rumours of the Django Unchained casting, and from casting rumours in general, but the names that have been signed up with the film are now worth mentioning. Jamie Foxx plays the lead of an escaped slave turned bounty hunter returning to the plantation where he once lived and worked in order to free his wife. Leonardo DiCaprio plays plantation owner Calvin Candie, who runs a sadistic brothel where slaves are forced to work as sex slaves; Christoph Waltz stars as an Austrian bounty hunter who teaches Django his trade; Samuel L Jackson is a house slave, and Kerry Washington, Kurt Russell and Dennis Christopher are also set to star along with Sacha Baron Cohen who The Guardian has just announced.

Hallström's The Hypnotist cast...
Lasse Hallström, who directed films such as The Hoax, The Shipping News, Chocolat and What's Eating Gilbert Grape, is about to direct his first Swedish film in twenty-four years. The Hypnotist is the first novel in a planned series of eight, with three already published, from Swedish husband and wife authors Alexander Ahndoril and Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril. Interestingly all eight novels have been optioned for adaptations. Tobias Zilliacus is set to play the lead character of Detective Inspector Joona Linna, Mikael Persbrandt will play hypnotist Dr. Erik Maria Bark and Lena Olin will play his wife according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Iceman gains surprising cast...
When we saw the test scene for The Iceman it looked like it was rather interesting, with Michael Shannon playing the mafia hit man Richard "The Ice Man" Kuklinski, a man who kept his family life apart from the fact that he was paid and ordered to murder more than 200 people. According to Variety through First Showing Ray Liotta, Maggie Gyllenhaal and David Schwimmer have all signed for the film, making it even more interesting.

Meyer's Host adaptation cast...
The Andrew Niccol adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's novel The Host has gained Jake Abel to star alongside Saoirse Ronan according to First Showing. The film is still a romance despite being a science fiction story. It's set in a future where humans are taken by an alien race who implant themselves in the bodies and slowly remove the personality of the person so that they can use the body. The leads fall for each other as the girl is taken and implanted, she fights her alien invader who becomes overwhelmed and attached to her memories and emotions, and relationship becomes a strange triangle of love.
