Fincher's Cleopatra to gain new writer?...
According to Variety through The Playlist Eric Roth is in talks to join David Fincher's film Cleopatra, the film that will totally change the way we've looked at the historical character so far, particularly in film. Brian Helgeland wrote the original script but it looks like the writer of The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button could be next up to take a crack at the adaptation of Stacy Schiff's book Cleopatra: A Life (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com).

Casey Anthony film from prosecutor's book...
A film about the Casey Anthony trial is set to happen and will be adapted from the book of the prosecutor of the trial Jeff Ashton. Now retired he has written the book Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony (Amazon.co.uk
/ Amazon.com
) which is clearly going to show the case from the prosecution side and according to the Yahoo News story has a good go at the jurors in the original case and the defence team. The trial saw Casey Anthony accused of mudering her daughter and covering up her disappearance with authorities, however the jury found her not guilty of murder but guilty of lying to police and she was released on July 17th, twelve days after the verdict was delivered, for time served.

Robbins and Brody in Chinese famine film...
Tim Robbins and Adrien Brody have joined the cast of a film which will tell the story of the deadly famine that hit central China in 1942 during the war against Japan. The film is from director Feng Xiaogang and is based on the novel by Liu Zhenyun called Remembering 1942 which tells a very human story set against the drought that occurred which was compounded by the government's distraction with the war against Japan's occupying armies. The writer grew up in the province at the heart of the story according to the Variety story. It's another Far Eastern film that is gaining Hollywood stars for its retelling, are we seeing a working partnership get better and better? This used to be a one way remake street.

Lawrence's Houdini film still happening...
According to a comment in a The Hollywood Reporter story about Sony moving some production to Montreal, Francis Lawrence's film about the famous illusionist and escapologist Houdini is set to continue. There are no details other than his film is one of the ones set to move its production there, but it's clearly still Lawrence's film at the moment and it is still set to go ahead.

Akira offers Kristen Stewart lead...
According to The Hollywood Reporter Kristen Stewart is currently considering an offer for a role in Akira playing Ky Reed. She would play the role of a woman who is part of an underground movement who are trying to reveal to the public that the government are using orphans and turning them into psychic weapons, and that's just what Kaneda, who Garret Hedlund is considering playing, is becoming.

Nighy joins Beattie's I, Frankenstein...
Stuart Beattie's I, Frankenstein has just gained Bill Nighy to play the villain of the film, a demon prince, alongside Aaron Eckhart who is set to play Adam, the Frankenstein character who has managed to control his personality and is now trying to make a life as a private investigator. The film is adapted from Kevin Grevioux's comic book. Variety through First Showing tell us that Socratis Otto is also set to join as a henchman tracking down Adam.

Spielberg in talks for Gods and Kings...
After the report from Deadline from September that Warner Bros. were interested in Steven Spielberg to direct their film about the tale of Moses called Gods and Kings, we now hear from Twitch that the negotiations have begun. Michael Green and Stuart Hazeldine wrote the script that tells the tale of the life of the character of Moses, that's the entire story from birth to death. Spielberg could certainly tackle that size of production relatively easily, but would he, he's a very busy man these days.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. swaps Clooney?...
It looks like George Clooney might be out of the The Man From U.N.C.L.E. film as Deadline report that he's off having surgery and Steven Soderbergh is looking for someone to replace him, and according to them he's looking at Channing Tatum. No offer, just wild rumour, but I'm saddened to hear that Clooney won't be taking the role.
