Litvinenko film gaining director?...

X-Men: First Class sequel moves forward...

Figgis directing Seconds of Pleasure...
Mike Figgis is set to direct Seconds of Pleasure, surprisingly for STV productions and with a big cast, and there I was thinking that STV were cash strapped. Not so for according to The Hollywood Reporter through First Showing the cast includes Matt Dillon, Julia Stiles, Brendan Fraser, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Hendrix, and that's a production and a half right there. Neil LaBute is writing the screenplay from short stories of the same title, which might not sound as promising as the rest of the line-up but apparently the script is one of the strong points of the entire piece. It tells the stories of six couples that intertwine and the challenges and temptations of everyday life.

Slasher horror remake with Elijah Wood...
Alexandre Aja is hitting another horror remake according to Bloody Disgusting through Twitch, this one is called Maniac the eighties slasher film from William Lustig. However Aja is producing and Franck Khalfoun, the director of P2, is set to direct Nora Arnezeder and Elijah Wood in the film about a serial killer who hunts and kills women which he sees as revenge for the way he was brought up by his abusive mother. Seems a strange choice for Wood, and it suggests that it'll be something more than just another horror remake.

Penn and DiCaprio together on screen...
Alejandro González Iñárritu is set to direct a film called The Revenant which is adapted from the novel by Michael Punke which tells the story of a frontiersman in the 1820's who is badly mauled by a bear on a fur trapping expedition. He hires two men to stay with him but they rob him instead expecting him to die. He doesn't and through sheer will recovers and heads out for revenge. None of this is the main draw in the story from Deadline, the real interesting part is that Iñárritu would like Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn to star together in the film. Oh boy, I want that too.

Star Trek 2 begins casting...
Rumours are that Benicio Del Toro has been approached by J. J. Abrams to play a part in the next Star Trek film. No idea what part and rumours are rife guessing all the usual roles. According to Variety through First Showing not even Del Toro knows yet, so we won't know for a very long time.

Litvinenko film gaining director?...
The real life story of Alexander Litvinenko is set to come to the big screen and according to Variety through First Showing Rupert Wyatt. We first heard about a possible film way back in 2007 when Johnny Depp was rumoured to be looking into the project, now the story is that the film Londongrad might gain Michael Fassbender as the lead, although it is early rumour at the moment, especially since they haven't even managed to get Wyatt to sign up for the film. However he would make a great director for the project and Fassbender a great lead. The film would tell the story of the Russian FSB agent who defected to the UK and was eventually poisoned by radioactive material which apparently led back to Russia. The film is being adapted from the Alan Cowell book Sasha's Story: The Life and Death of a Russian Spy.

X-Men: First Class sequel moves forward...
Simon Kinberg looks set to write the sequel to X-Men: First Class according to SuperheroHype through Collider. There are plenty of comments from the cast and director about what could happen with a new film, but two of the most revealing come through L.A. Times and Collider where James McAvoy says:

"Ideally you have a story arc that lasts three movies and at the end of the third it leaves you ready for the story in X-Men 1. It would be nice to explore things in two more films."

...and Matthew Vaughn says that he would bring in one new character, just one, a new one to fight Magneto, and he's not saying who that would be. Still, the writer has to write yet.
