Update: The Pirates! Band of Misfits new trailer impresses

PiratesBandofMisfits.jpgI had thought I would tag this trailer onto an existing article, even while I was watching the opening which seemed to be more of the same, although a very good same, but we'd just seen it in the previous trailers. Then the new footage came and I was giggling and laughing away and it had me all over again like the first trailer had.

The film is directed by Peter Lord and Jeff Newitt, Lord directed Chicken Run, and it stars Hugh Grant, Martin Freeman, David Tennant, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Piven, Brendan Gleeson, Ashley Jensen, Imelda Staunton and Russell Tovey. Surely that's enough to land you?

The Pirates! Band of Misfits looks like it could be a lot of fun, although I am interested that it's focussing on the pirates all the time and not the scientists, perhaps trying to avoid the "kill all scientists" brigade, I don't know.

Anyway The Pirates! Band of Misfits has tons of voice talent which you can hear in the trailer, and looks set to be another Aardman classic with a cracking choice of Hugh Grant in the lead pirate role.

Here's the blurb:

In The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Hugh Grant stars in his first animated role as the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain - a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas. With a rag-tag crew at his side (Martin Freeman, Brendan Gleeson, Russell Tovey, and Ashley Jensen), and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award. It's a quest that takes our heroes from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. Along the way they battle a diabolical queen (Imelda Staunton) and team up with a haplessly smitten young scientist (David Tennant), but never lose sight of what a pirate loves best: adventure!

Now here's the new trailer which comes courtesy of Trailer Addict:

How can you not love that?

Update: 08/12/2011 Another similar trailer has arrived for the film, but I have to say that this one looks a tad better and carries a few more laughs. See what you think. This comes through Deadline:

This excellent website certainly has all of the information
and facts I needed concerning this subject and didn't know who to ask.
