New Battleship trailer looks and sounds like Transformers
There's a new trailer for Battleship, the Peter Berg film that is based on the board game Battleship, yes the game from Hasbro who have been taking all their games to Hollywood.
Unsurprisingly it looks nothing like Battleship, but it does look a hell of a lot like Transformers and it's filled with action galore, although it's all a little confusing.
I say that because I thought the story of Battleship was about a carrier group being caught inside a force field by some alien that was hiding underwater, come to the surface to fight the Battleships for some reason enabling the battle to be close, personal and without it turning into a world versus aliens film.
Yet that's what the trailer suggests as the aliens attack all sorts of land based targets. Maybe it's just the editing and this is all happening in the islands and on the ships caught within the bubble, really though it's rather unclear.
What the trailer does say is that this is like Transformers, there are loads of special effects and explosions, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgård, Taylor Kitsch and Rihanna are in it and, well, that's it.
Here's the blurb.
Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro's classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancee; Alexander Skarsgård as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.
Wait, wasn't that Master Chief in the trailer? He's fighting for the bad guys?!
