Act of Valor delivers fantastic trailer
When I saw the first trailer for Act of Valor I have to admit I thought it was a little bit of a gimmick and might not turn out to be that great, but since then the trailers have evolved and grown and now they're presenting the film as something much bigger and giving it the potential to be huge.
This latest trailer is a different cut and has some new footage, but is similar to the rest. The real difference is the feel that makes you think this film, made with real Navy SEALs, is going to be something special.
I've talked about the story for Act of Valor before, sounding very much like a Rainbow Six story where a Navy SEAL team are sent on an overseas mission which reveals intelligence that leads them to another mission and so on, escalating in size to reveal something much bigger than they first expected.
While Tom Clancy novels are full of technical accuracies, no one would have thought that you could have made the film with real soldiers, especially those from an elite unit such as the Navy SEALs, but they have and Mike McCoy, Scott Waugh and writer Kurt Johnstad have done just that.
McCoy and Waugh worked on a small documentary about the Navy SWCC which seems to have led them to this film. Here's the blurb:
Conceived by former Baja 1000 champion Mike "Mouse" McCoy and former stuntman Scott Waugh, Act of Valor goes deep into the secret world of today's most elite and highly trained group of warriors.
When the rescue of a kidnapped CIA operative leads to the discovery of a deadly terrorist plot, a team of SEALs is dispatched on a global manhunt. As the men of Bandito Platoon race to stop a coordinated attack that could kill and wound thousands of innocent civilians, they must balance their commitments to country, team, and their families back home.
Based on real events, the film combines stunning combat sequences, up-to-the minute battlefield technology and heart-pumping emotion for the ultimate action adventure.
I think there's no avoiding it now, just take a look at this new trailer for Act of Valor and marvel at the mix of cinematic action, Ghost Recon technology, and snapshots of realistic war films you've seen before. Some of this looks amazing, especially knowing it could be real.
