New Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter trailer

AbrahamLincolnVampireHunter.jpgLet me correct something the trailer annoyingly highlights. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is directed by Timur Bekmambetov, written by Simon Kinberg and Seth Grahame-Smith who wrote the novel, and produced by Tim Burton. I do hate it when the producer credit is put before the people who wrote and directed the film who, you would hope, had more effect on the final film than the producer.

Of course there are not just those names to consider before the producer, and I'm not going to list all the other people behind the scenes from cinematographer and editor onwards, let's look at the cast too which has Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Alan Tudyk and Rufus Sewell.

So ignoring Tim Burton as producer there are still so many great reasons on which to sell this film aren't there?

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a strange concept though and one that I really couldn't see working until I saw this trailer, here's the blurb for the film:

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, discovers vampires are planning to take over the United States. He makes it his mission to eliminate them.

The story sees Lincoln, before he becomes President, discovering that vampires are real when they kill his mother before his eyes - getting shades of Blade here? - he then seeks to avenge her and kill all vampires, and that's where his adventure begins, weaving through history with a fantastical story that looks like it's going to deliver a great action adventure on screen.

You can see two previous trailers here on Filmstalker for the film, but here's the latest one which features some story development over the top of the action and the spectacular looking effects. From this trailer alone through TrailerAddict it looks like Timur Bekmambetov is on top form.

I think that looks a lot of fun.
