Prometheus viral video: Peter Weyland talks at TED2023

Prometheus.jpgThere's been a lot of talk about the viral video teaser promoting the coming Prometheus film, and again this cements a clear connection with the Alien films from the past. Here we have a mocked up TED Talks introduction released on the internet from the year 2023 and featuring a certain Peter Weyland talking about his vision for what his company will do for humanity.

At the beginning of the speech is the tale of Prometheus and the punishment that he faced for his stealing of the power from the gods, hinting at what we might see in the film, but not really giving much away. It's good though.

Peter Weyland, of the infamous Weyland Industries, is played by Guy Pearce and I was fascinated by his excellent accent. I'm a huge fan of the actor and here he's promising another powerful performance, I do hope we'll see a good deal of him in the film.

Here's a blurb for the viral video that gives us more than the video itself:

Peter Weyland at TED2023: I will change the world. A TEDTalk from the future as envisioned by Prometheus director Ridley Scott.

Peter Weyland has been a magnet for controversy since he announced his intent to build the first convincingly humanoid robotic system by the end of the decade.

Whether challenging the ethical boundaries of medicine with nanotechnology or going toe to toe with the Vatican itself on the issue of gene-therapy sterilization, Sir Peter prides himself on his motto, "If we can, we must." After a three year media blackout, Weyland has finally emerged to reveal where he's heading next. Wherever that may be, we will most certainly want to follow.

Here's the Prometheus viral video with the TED Talk from 2023 through TrailerAddict:

Whets the appetite doesn't it?

You only think I guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! I switched glasses when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
