The Samaritan trailer could ruin the film

TheSamaritan.jpgSamuel L. Jackson stars as a famous grifter who has just been released from prison and is determined to put his previous life behind him and move on, however the son of his ex-partner has other ideas and he has plans for a huge con, he just needs the best grifter there is to run it.

The trailer has other ideas too, like telling us far too much of the story and revealing where a big twist is coming, possibly even two, and if these don't occur in the early stages of the film the trailer is doing a good job of killing the film before it's released.

Mind you, if the marketing team do destroy the film at the box office they can always blame it on everything else other than the marketing team, we haven't seen that before have we Mr Carter?

Anyway, back to the ruined plot in hand, here's the blurb for The Samaritan:

After twenty years in prison, Foley is finished with the grifter's life. When he meets an elusive woman named Iris, the possibility of a new start looks real. But his past is proving to be a stubborn companion.

The film does star Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Wilkinson, Ruth Negga, Gil Bellows and Luke Kirby, and the trailer does make it look rather strong and stylish, it's just a shame it spoils it with the big twist reveal, or perhaps two.

Even if the trailer doesn't reveal the big twist you are clearly put on the path of how the film is going to play out and it feels as though there won't be any surprises left.

Here's how The Samaritan is going to play out, the trailer comes through Yahoo Trailers and First Showing:

So what's the point? Even going to see Jackson will result in witnessing his standard angry, vengeful character routine which we've seen rather a lot now, oh and look Wilkinson is an angry man, probably slightly sadistic too. Honestly.
