Total Recall remake teaser trailer arrives
Well there is quite a lot to recognise in the teaser trailer for Total Recall the remake, but at the same time there's a fair bit that's new to it, and not just the faces.
Mind you I have to say that there's plenty that isn't new, and I'm hoping that this teaser has been released a little too early, or the campaign is to show us the familiar before bringing us the new Total Recall.
We see the machine, the man coming out of the machine fighting men with guns, fighting his armed wife, and being on the run with plenty of futuristic world shenanigans around him. Yes it looks more modern, but the breakdown of the scenes relates really well to the original, although there's no grimace in the chair moment!
There are a couple of things that stood out for me, one was the excellent line:
"Tell us your fantasy, we'll give you the memory"
The other was the moment where we see the face of Colin Farrell flip from someone else back to his own, perhaps the scene from the original where we see Arnold Schwarzenegger wearing the disguise of the rather large lady, except here it has more realistic looking technology and Colin of course.
I have to say I am surprised at how similar these scenes from Total Recall all are to the original Total Recall. I'm feeling that this is going to be far closer to the original than we were led to believe, and that's despite the blurb which tries to lead us in a different direction, remember there's no Mars in this story:
As the nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai vie for supremacy, a factory worker (Farrell) begins to suspect that he's a spy, though he is unaware which side of the fight he's on.
Let's see what you think after watching the teaser trailer for Total Recall through TrailerAddict.
Aha! I get it now, the teaser has been removed from TrailerAddict at request of the copyright holders, that means you'll be chasing copies around the internet like mad. Well here's a start for you:
If it gets pulled I'll see if it's floating around elsewhere for you. It would explain why the teaser feels less than it should and much like the original. This isn't the edit we were hoping for.
Well has the new Kurt Wimmer, James Vanderbilt and Mark Bomback written, Len Wiseman directed Total Recall got it right? I think we're waiting for the full trailer.
