Scalene trailer looks interesting
Scalene is an interesting concept with an equally interesting trailer that could well turn out to be a strong small film. It's the blurb that immediately caught my eye but it is a strong trailer too.
It's a thriller that tells a powerful story from three separate viewpoints, the rape of a young woman seen through the eyes of the mentally handicapped man accused of raping her, the mother and full time carer for the man and the woman herself.
The film is co-written by Brandon Owens and Zack Parker with Parker directing. They've worked together on a couple of films and Parker has written and directed a few others, unfortunately none of which I've seen to comment on. However Scalene does star Margo Martindale whom you'll recognise from many other films as well as Hanna Hall and Adam Scarimbolo.
Here's the official blurb for the story of Scalene:
Scalene is a perceptual thriller told from three points-of-view revolving around the rape of a female college student by a mentally handicapped man and his mother's subsequent breakdown. In the varying views, the absolute truth takes a backseat to who can tell the most convincing tale. What really occurred, and who will you believe?
That coupled with the trailer has piqued my interest, and I think it might yours too. It promises to be a focused film, concentrating on these three people and offering different points of view to the same events, something that always fascinates me in a story.
