Following on from the Prometheus special of the Filmstalker Film Club Audiocast we thought it only fair to bestow the same scrutiny of the Film Club team on the last of Christopher Nolan's Batman films, The Dark Knight Rises.

We were all excited to see it and with Mark and I being fans of Batman going way back (Mark more than myself) there was no way we couldn't get together to discuss what we thought of the film. The result is a surprising mixed bag of opinions and as well as The Dark Knight Rises we discuss the other films in the series, where Batman is going to go next and obviously touch on violence in, and out of, film.

Leading up to watching The Dark Knight Rises we all re-watched Batman Begins (Filmstalker review) and The Dark Knight (Filmstalker review) to get ourselves into the spirit of Christopher Nolan's Gotham. Then we hit The Dark Knight Rises and met online a few nights later to talk about what we thought.

Our opinions, as always, cover the spectrum, and we have a "dislike", "like" and a "love" amongst the three, but I shan't reveal who has which and how deep they go.

As always, be aware we will be talking in-depth about the film so there are spoilers, and not just of The Dark Knight Rises, but for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Oh, and there's potential spoilers for the next Batman film as well as a potential Batman film well into the future.

We also talk briefly about the terrible attack that happened in the Aurora, Colorado cinema and touch on violence in film, later talking about just how non-violent this film actually is. There's a lot to discuss in this episode and another warning is that this audiocast is longer than average but it is well worth it.
