Redford's The Company You Keep trailer arrives
Robert Redford directing and starring, now that's something we haven't heard in a while and though that perhaps we wouldn't again. Now add in a cast of the newly reborn Shia LaBeouf, Susan Sarandon, Julie Christie, Sam Elliot, Brendan Gleeson, Stanley Tucci, Terrence Howard, Richard Jenkins, Anna Kendrick, Nick Nolte, Stephen Root and Brit Marling and you have a great cast for his thriller from writer Lem Dobbs who adapted from the Neil Gordon novel.
The story is an interesting one too, relevant, tough and sure to cast a critical eye over attitudes and politics, controversial, tense and entertaining, well that's the promise anyway.
Here's the blurb for The Company You Keep:
Jim Grant (Robert Redford), a civil rights lawyer and single father, must go on the run when a brash young reporter (Shia LaBeouf) exposes his true identity as a former 1970s radical fugitive wanted for murder. Sparking a nationwide manhunt, Grant sets off on a cross-country journey to clear his name. Also starring Susan Sarandon, Terrence Howard, Anna Kendrick, Stanley Tucci, Chris Cooper and Nick Nolte.
I'm excited by the trailer because when I see Redford and a thriller I start harking back to the days of the strong political thrillers, films I saw in my early cinematic years and influenced me heavily, in fact I love thrillers the most especially conspiracy ones and ones that make you think about real life issues at the same time. The Company You Keep could deliver all that and more, I'm hoping.
