When the Lights Went Out trailer sells possession "truth"

WhentheLightsWentOut.jpgThe trailer for When the Lights Went Out could be described as the British answer to The Exorcist and Poltergeist all rolled up into one, especially so since the story is selling itself as factual, more than that the blurb claims that this is entirely true.

The trailers so far have looked strong and writer/director Pat Holden looks like they've delivered a strong horror thriller that builds on the supernatural and the natural really well, and this new trailer really adds to that feeling.

When the Lights Went Out tells the story of a possession of a young girl in Yorkshire, England in 1974 and what happens to her when the family move into a new home, a home that doesn't seem to be entirely empty. Here's the blurb for the film:

Yorkshire, 1974. Britain is in recession, the oil crisis and black outs loom large. The Maynard family move into their dream house, only to find a "presence" already living there. Len, Jenny and their daughter Sally must struggle to keep their already-fragile family together as they are attacked by poltergeists. Soon it becomes apparent that Sally is their main focus of attention. The house becomes a living nightmare. They must exorcise the evil spirits for them to survive.

Now there's a new blurb to go along with the new trailer from TrailerAddict and it's much more thorough:

Prepare yourself for the ultimate horror experience. As you watch this film there is one inescapable fact that cannot be denied, one fact that will make your blood run cold, one fact that will leave you gasping for breath and unable to turn out the lights... everything you are about to see... really happened.

Yorkshire, 1974, the Maynard family moves into their dream house. It's a dream that quickly descends into a panic stricken nightmare as the family discovers a horrifying truth, a truth that will make the history books. The house is already occupied by the most violent poltergeist ever documented, a poltergeist that will tear you from your bed as you sleep and drag you helplessly into the darkness...

As the attacks on the family become increasingly violent and terrifying it becomes clear that the exorcism of the poltergeist will be their only chance for survival. Two separate exorcism are attempted... the consequences of which... are disastrous.

When The Lights Went Out is based on true events that occurred at No. 30, East Drive on the Chesterfield Estate, Pontefract,West Yorkshire. The subject of a plethora of research group studies, books and newspaper reports, this is the horrifying story of what really happened. Embrace the truth and experience unrivaled terror.

You can see the new trailer right here although it doesn't show you too much of the British acting talent that is involved in the film, keep a keen eye and you'll recognise a few faces, and there are a good few recognisable actors in this.

From the trailers I've seen so far When the Lights Went Out does look rather good. Here's the latest one:
