Texas Chainsaw 3D trailer has a big pointy thing
So it has arrived, and not so much in a big roar of chainsaws but, well I'm not sure how to describe it. Actually to be fair the trailer for the new film in the Texas Chainsaw franchise isn't that bad, rather good I'd go so far to say, although there's a little hint of the 3D element creeping in that is rather annoying. Other than that you could actually get into this.
The film takes a pretty standard route to start the franchise off again but it does look rather well made and they've also got some footage of Gunnar Hansen as the old Leatherface in the film. Back to this version though, the reboot or sequel, or whatever you'd like to call it, and I have to admit the trailer isn't that bad.
Here's the blurb for Texas Chainsaw 3D which tells us how we get back there.
Lionsgate's Texas Chainsaw 3D continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper's 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family - or so they thought.
Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion's dank cellars...
Although I am a little confused, are they saying that Leatherface or son of Leatherface has been down there all that time? I'll be interested to see how they fit that in and the story progresses.
It's not that bad is it? Quite a slick looking horror really although I'm really not sure how they are going to make it any different or more appealing than any other hunt down and kill all the teenagers horror film.
