Updated: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey second trailer with multiple endings

TheHobbitAnUnexpectedJourne.jpgUnexpected? Well not really, it looks fantastic, feels epic, sounds just as epic and filled with magical characters and performances, was that unexpected? Not at all. What might be unexpected is that the trailer comes with multiple endings and you can choose which one to watch it with.

As a cheat video I also have them all in one for you, if you don't want go through the trailer multiple times, although frankly I don't know why you wouldn't.

It doesn't look like Peter Jackson has faltered from what he delivered with Lord of the Rings for a moment as the new trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey brings you right back to that world and those characters within an instant. There's only one thing I can pick out about the trailer and that's the fact that it does go rather fast, wouldn't it have been great to see an extended trailer with a little more time for breathing?

That said it is still fantastic and it is promising a lot of classic and epic storytelling as well as some amazing effects sequences.

Here's the official blurb for the film that gives you an idea of how much of the story we're going to see in this first Hobbit film, of which there are now going to be three:

The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug.

Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield.

Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever...Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of ingenuity and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities...

A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

Now you can see the trailer in Quicktime high definition fanciness over at Apple Trailers, or you can watch it in standard Flash below through TrailerAddict.

If you want to see those alternate endings you have two choices, head to the official site for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and watch each one, the site even allows you to share the version of the trailer you have chosen with whoever you like, or you can just watch them all below through The Playlist one after the other.

There's one great thing about the alternative endings, we get to see and hear from other characters and actors that we don't see in the rest of the trailer and they're all rather amusing.

So that's the trailer and all the endings, is it the one you were expecting?

Update: Fancy the complete trailer with the different endings? Well here you go then.

Bilbo's ending:

Sting's ending (the sword, not the singer!):

Gollum's ending:
