New West of Memphis trailer

WestofMemphis.jpgI must admit that I'd almost forgotten about West of Memphis as I first saw a trailer for the film back in January, finally it's getting an American release on Christmas day, unfortunately though nowhere else, as yet.

To start the run towards that there's a new trailer for the Amy Berg directed documentary produced by Berg along with a number of other names as well as Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh.

West of Memphis, the documentary from Amy Berg, tells the story of a now famous case of injustice in America, here's the blurb:

West of Memphis is directed by Amy Berg (Deliver Us from Evil) and produced by first-time filmmakers Damien Echols (one of the convicted men) and Lorri Davis along with Lord of the Rings filmmakers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh. Starting with a searing examination of the police investigation into the 1993 murders of three eight-year-old boys - Christopher Byers, Steven Branch and Michael Moore in the small town of West Memphis, Arkansas, the film goes on to reveal hitherto unknown evidence surrounding the arrest and conviction of the other three victims of this shocking crime - Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley Jr.; all three of whom were teenagers at the time of their arrests and all three of whom spent 18 years and 17 days in prison for crimes they did not commit.

I wonder if the case is well known enough to receive a release outside of America, but the good news is that it will be seen there and allow the story to be told.

Here's the new trailer for West of Memphis which comes through Deadline:
