Singer reveals Jack the Giant Slayer trailer

JacktheGiantSlayer.jpgBryan Singer has revealed the full trailer for his film reimagining the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, Jack the Giant Slayer, and the trailer really does pitch the film towards similar ground to something akin to The Princess Bride but with much more action, CG and budget, and the star list looks great.

I'm not totally convinced by the trailer but I'm taken by the idea and the cast. Some of the trailer looks fantastic too, and I like the fact that at times it's taking a little tongue in cheek style to it, I wonder if he's going to pull it off?

That cast list includes Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane, Bill Nighy, Ewan McGregor, Warwick Davis, Eddie Marsan and Ewen Bremner to name but a few - wow, there's a few British actors in there isn't there? A good list though and it's great to see some of them in character in the trailer, especially McGregor's character which makes me think of his Obi Wan but with tongue deliberately in cheek this time.

Here's the blurb for Jack the Giant Slayer (not killer):

"Jack the Giant Slayer" tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend--and gets the chance to become a legend himself.

Darren Lemke, Christopher McQuarrie and Dan Studney have written the screenplay and with Bryan Singer directing you know it's going to be pretty big, something that is backed up in spades by the trailer itself.
