This is the End trailer delivers more than expected
The opening introduction to the trailer for This is the End from Seth Rogen and James Franco is everything I expected of them, jokes about drugs, sex and bodily functions, everything that is puerile, cheap and easy about American comedy, in fact almost everything about American comedy.
Then something happens, the introduction dies and the film trailer begins and it starts to pick up, and suddenly this is looking like an end of the world film, without the puerile comedy.
Of course I really don't expect that to last too long but I have to admit that the production values for the This is the End trailer are looking rather good and instead of being a silly comedy with some small moments of end of the world mayhem around them with a few actors, it actually looks like this could feel big.
Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen are directing from a script that Rogen wrote with Goldberg and from a story by Jason Stone. It obviously stars Rogen, Goldberg and James Franco with other names from the unexpected to the usual crew such as Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson to Emma Watson and Rihanna.
It does look like the film could provide something more than the standard American comedy, and I am hopeful it will although more trailers will be needed to convince me, hopefully without the introductions.
