Stephen Chow's Journey to the West trailer

JourneytotheWest.jpgStephen Chow brought us the excellent Kung Fu Hustle (Filmstalker review) and CJ7, now he's coming back with a film called Journey to the West, or as many of us might also know it, Monkey. Yes, that one.

The film also goes by the title Odyssey and Daai wa sai you chi Chui mo chun kei, and Stephen Chow writes, produces and co-directs with Chi-kin Kwok taking the main directing credit. If you've seen Chow's films already you know what to expect, and yet this trailers seems like he's dialled up the Chow-factor even more.

Odyssey or Journey to the West is based on the famous Chinese novel Journey to the West which tells of the Monkey King's journey to India, and yes that is the Monkey King that we might remember from the television series Monkey, and to reference that you'll see both a spear wielding monkey-man and a pig-man in the trailer.

It isn't all Stephen Chow though, Chi-kin Kwok directs and you'll recognise the beautiful and talented Qi Shu in there as well.

The trailer is pretty mad and you'll have a hard time figuring out what is actually going on, but just sit back and revel in the madness and the Chow-ness of it all and hope that this lives up to the excellence of Kung Fu Hustle (Filmstalker review).

Here's the Journey to the West trailer through The Playlist:

Yep, that is pretty mad isn't it?
