The Last Exorcism Part II trailer looks good
I have to admit I thought the idea of this sequel would be poor. We were either going to see the same story happening again or the idea going off in a wild direction that ignored what the first film brought us. I'm delighted to say that the trailer says neither of those.
More than that it looks like they've not gone far from the original but found a way to continue it that brings mystery to the sequel and something new.
The trailer for The Last Exorcism Part II shows that time has passed since the first film and already mystery is loaded about what might have happened, but it's not long before we're shown that events are beginning to happen again and this time it seems like a real exorcism is going to be performed, well as real as exorcisms are anyway.
The direction and the changes this time around do suggest that the film-makers haven't just opted for an easy option of repeating themselves and we get Ashley Bell returning to the leading role but with a different director and writers with Ed Gass-Donnelly taking both roles and Damien Chazelle on the writing credits.
Here's a blurb for The Last Exorcism Part II:
In the continuing story, Nell Sweetzer is found terrified and alone in rural Louisiana. When she returns to the relative safety of New Orleans, Nell finds that she can't remember large portions of the previous months, but she does know that she is the last surviving member of her family. As Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her comes back with terrible new plans for her, meaning that her last exorcism was just the beginning.
