Coppola's The Bling Ring trailer says little
The story sounds interesting, but only when you read the blurb, the trailer looks rather empty otherwise. Sure there are some nice slow motion shots of partying and darkened shots of people doing something somewhere, but there's not really much in it apart from the dramatic eye-catching titles telling us this is a true story and what the Bling Ring were.
For me it's the titles and the blurb that sold it to me, the fact that Sofia Coppola has written and directed the film and the leading role for Emma Watson.
Here's the blurb for The Bling Ring:
The Bling Ring depicts the story of a real-life group of kids from an affluent neighborhood in the valley that continually robbed the Hollywood homes of wealthy celebrities for almost a year before finally being caught. The film stars Emma Watson alongside Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Claire Julien, and Taissa Farmiga. The film also features Leslie Mann, Gavin Rossdale, and real-life Bling Ring victim, Paris Hilton.
I don't really think that last line sells anything much of the film to me, I mean if you weren't sold before would the appearance of the "real-life Bling Ring victim" sway you? Perhaps if it was someone with some merit to anything in their life.
So here's the trailer for The Bling Ring through TrailerAddict which really doesn't sell the film that well, I think you'll probably find that you're sold on the film after that blurb.
Mind you, Emma Watson, Sofia Coppola and this interesting story. It's not new to film though because it's already had an outing in film in 2011 directed by Michael Lembeck and starring Jennifer Grey, yes that Jennifer Grey.
