The Place Beyond the Pines trailer surprisingly good
I've seen The Place Beyond the Pines and I have to say that I was disappointed. I liked what it was trying to do and the messages it was showing but I didn't think it managed to pull it off and at times it felt it was letting the ideas slip through its fingers.
Still it's not a bad film and Bradley Cooper is once again superb. Ryan Gosling is, well he's Ryan Gosling the doughy eyed, mumbling character but with added tattoos and chain smoking.
What is surprising about the film is that it isn't all led by Ryan Gosling and that Bradley Cooper gets more screen time, but it's not being sold on him mainly because the more outwardly exciting character is with Gosling and the connection with Drive is easy to make and therefore to sell the film.
Here's the short blurb for The Place Beyond the Pines which doesn't do the film justice at all, in fact it's really only describing the first act.
A motorcycle stunt rider turns to robbing banks as a way to provide for his lover and their newborn child, a decision that puts him on a collision course with an ambitious rookie cop navigating a department ruled by a corrupt detective.
Now here's the trailer through TrailerAddict for The Place Beyond the Pines. You can certainly see that there's much more than just Gosling.
