Carlei and Fellowes' Romeo and Juliet trailer

RomeoandJuliet.jpgItalian writer and director Carlo Carlei has directed Julian Fellowes adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, and now there's a trailer to give us a look. The talent doesn't end there though as there's a good cast in front of the camera as well.

Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth take the leads with Damian Lewis, Paul Giamatti, Stellan Skarsgård, Natascha McElhone and Kodi Smit-McPhee backing them up. However it's Fellowes that is the excitement here and what he's managed to bring with his adaptation of the classic story.

You know the story for Romeo and Juliet by now, and if you don't then what is your literature class teaching you at school? You need to get them to put Shakespeare on the curriculum because it has everything you could ever want from a story.

There have been plenty of film adaptations though and I did find myself wondering what they're going to different with this version, but then it's Shakespeare and the stories can survive multiple retellings, and after all this is a Julian Fellowes script.

Here's the trailer through Deadline for the new Romeo and Juliet:

The film is due for release on the 25th of October in the UK and Ireland and so far there's only a further deal for New Zealand on 14th February 2014, perfect date for the film. Let's hope it gets a wider release.
