Rush new trailer gets dramatic
The new trailer for Ron Howard and Peter Morgan's Rush, the film of the amazing battle between Niki Lauda and James Hunt for the Formula 1 Championship is filled with passion, drama and high octane racing stunts, and it looks both glorious and poor at the same time.
It does look glorious, it really does and it sells the film wonderfully, however at the same time it does fail to capture the enormity of what Niki Lauda achieved. However that's been seen in other trailers and there has to be one that plays up to the standard cinema crowd that the studios and distributors want to hit.
It doesn't make it a bad trailer for Rush, just a different one and not a bad one at that, it's just I am so desperate for the rich history of Formula 1 to be adapted for film that I want to see more of the F1 drama in the trailer and less of the Hollywood.
You could argue that this trailer makes Rush look more like the previous racing films we've seen, some of the films without much substance or depth but Rush has that and I want to see it pouring out of every trailer.
Here's an excerpt from the blurb as a reminder:
…a spectacular big-screen re-creation of the merciless 1970s rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda. The epic action-drama stars Chris Hemsworth as the charismatic Englishman James Hunt and Daniel Brühl as the disciplined Austrian perfectionist Niki Lauda, whose clashes on the Grand Prix racetrack epitomized the contrast between these two extraordinary characters, a distinction reflected in their private lives.
Set against the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing, Rush portrays the exhilarating true story of two of the greatest rivals the world has ever witnessed-handsome English playboy Hunt and his methodical, brilliant opponent, Lauda. Taking us into their personal lives on and off the track, Rush follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error. If you make one mistake, you die.
That doesn't over dramatize the story or the idea of Formula 1 for in those days deaths were much more commonplace than you would imagine, you just have to read Jackie Stewart's biography to realise how dangerous the sport was.
Here is that new trailer for Rush through TrailerAddict. Ron Howard and Peter Morgan have brought the amazing story of Niki Lauda versus James Hunt fight for the Formula 1 Championship to life and it does look amazingly realistic.
