The Armstrong Lie trailer, Gibney gets to Lance Armstrong

TheArmstrongLie.jpgAlex Gibney was in the right place at the right time, filming a documentary about Lance Armstrong during his comeback to compete for an eighth Tour de France win he not only caught much of the man's preparation but was also there for the moment that he admitted to having taken performance enhancing drugs.

The film, which was called The Road Back then became retitled as The Armstrong Lie and took a very different direction. The trailer is a big tease for what the film might offer us, but from Alex Gibney, the man behind Taxi to the Darkside (Filmstalker review) and Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, you know it's going to be good.

The trailer for The Armstrong Lie does look powerful because it shows the character of Lance Armstrong before the big reveal of his career, exposing the fact that he had cheated and had taken performance enhancing drugs. It doesn't cut too deeply though and there's nothing shocking in the trailer, just the promise of the inside view as it broke.

Here's the trailer for The Armstrong Lie through TrailerAddict, is it something you would get hooked on?

There's one interesting point that this trailer hints at that perhaps the film will carry forward and that's the effect on the lives of the people who previously stood up against Lance Armstrong and had their careers and reputations ruined for it, how did their lives change because of it? Aren't they the ones that deserve recognition and something back?
