Shyamalan's next secret film

MNightShyamalan.jpgIt seems that the latest secret project from M. Night Shyamalan hasn't been doing that well while it's been touted around for a deal, despite coming with some big stars attached it's been shelved according to reports.

Now he has a new film on the go, one that he's directing and not writing, which seems to have a lot of people excited already, and one that has a title and a possible star in the form of Jaden Smith.

No surprise that Jaden Smith is being touted as the star of the film since the production company behind it is the Smith family company, owned by Will Smith, James Lassiter, Ken Stovitz and Jada Pinkett Smith.

As usual plot details for an M. Night Shyamalan film are being kept secret, but the title is out and it's One Thousand A. E.

While that part of the story from The Hollywood Reporter Heat Vision is interesting, it's more interesting that his previous project that he was trying to find a buyer for, that was his story and there were a number of big names already attached to it, albeit loosely, when you go to a studio with a script, a big name writer and director, and the names of Bruce Willis, Bradley Cooper and Gwyneth Paltrow as even loosely attached, you'd think it would be snapped up in an instant.

I'm surprised it wasn't, and perhaps it was just timing rather than script, for I can't seen these names saying they would be associated with the film if the script wasn't any good. So what went wrong?

Perhaps it's the continuing media commentary on the man, I'm not sure. It's not as if his films aren't returning a profit. The good news though is that he's not stopping work altogether and he's moving on to another project, some people still have faith in him.
