Limitless trailer surprises

BradleyCooper.jpgI have to admit that I saw the garish page for the Limitless trailer, saw the presence of Robert De Niro and thought that I was in for a rather lacklustre trailer. I was wrong.

The trailer for Limitless looks slick and extremely interesting, I went in knowing nothing about what the film might deliver, and now I see the potential for a very strong thriller that's going to see Bradley Cooper take the lead and play off a very powerful but rather menacing Robert De Niro.

The film has an interesting blurb:

Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro star in Limitless, a paranoia-fueled action thriller about an unpublished writer whose life is transformed by a top-secret smart drug that allows him to use 100% of his brain and become a perfect version of himself. His enhanced abilities soon attract shadowy forces that threaten his new life in this darkly comic and provocative film.

I really got into the way the film looked in the trailer and the musical track, I even thought that some of the editing in the trailer was really strong, and some of the images have stuck with me, like the cue of Abbie Cornish's concerned face. Not to mention the fact that Bradley Cooper is getting a lead, and that Robert De Niro might just be getting back to his old strengths.

Here's the trailer for Limitless which you can also see over at Apple Trailers:

The film comes from the novel by Alan Glynn (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com), adapted by Leslie Dixon and directed by Neil Burger, and between them there are a lot of good films, although Burger doesn't have a huge directing career it's good and Dixon has some good screenplays on their career path. Could this turn out to be as good as the trailer suggests?
