No Strings Attached red band trailer

NoStringsAttached.jpgThe previous trailer for No Strings Attached seemed as though it had something to offer, something above the average American comedy delivering sex and bodily function jokes peppered by swearing. Well that was until I saw the red band trailer and witnessed exactly that.

For me the humour has drained away and the studio formula has returned, and while there are still some attractive moments and the two leads are decent actors, this is no updated When Harry Met Sally.

In fact it's more of the same, if this trailer is anything to go by, and my previous interest in No Strings Attached is fading. Any glimmer of some intelligent humour that looks into relationships in some way is gone for a string of sex jokes and the desire to drop some swearing into the dialogue to make it connect with the audience.

Still, that shouldn't be the case because it's directed by Ivan Reitman and stars Natalie Portman as well as Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Kline, and that suggests something a little better.

Maybe it's just the trailer being cut this way to attract an audience that bask in that type of low-brow comedy, I'm not sure. Best to have a look for yourselves and see what you think.

No Strings Attached is the story of lifelong friends who have sex one day when they are both feeling a little emotionally strung out. They decide to keep having sex but without any of the relationship extras that go with it, basically no strings attached, just the sex and fun and no falling in love. Well, guess what happens?

Here's the trailer which comes through Coming Soon. Perhaps rather aptly. Beware, it features swearing that your children will never have heard before in the playground.
