Chan and Li deliver 1911 trailer

1911.jpgZhang Li and Jackie Chan directed 1911 and have delivered an English language trailer for the film, well it has some English language titles and a stirring score with no other audio, which is just as good.

The film stars Jackie Chan, Joan Chen, Bing Bing Li, Jaycee Chan, Winston Chao and tells the story of revolution in China in 1911, no easy task you would think in a single film. Chan is not only co-directing and starring but he and his company are behind the stunts and production of the film.

Although Jackie Chan has plumped for more acting roles than his usual acting comedy, this is the big mark for him especially in the West. This is the film that really does say I'm not just all about those Hollywood comedies that he's become known for, although it's definitely fair to say that the audience for one will not be the audience for the other.

The trailer does show Chan delivering some moments of acting as well as stylish action throughout. This doesn't appear to be a thoughtful and political revolution film, although I'm sure there will be plenty of that too. The trailer says it's all about the action.

Here's the blurb for 1911:

At the beginning of the 20th century, China is in a state of crisis. The country is split into warring factions, the citizens are starving, and recent political reforms have made matters worse, not better. The ruling Qing Dynasty, led by a seven-year-old emperor and his ruthless mother, Empress Dowager Longyu (Joan Chen), is completely out of touch after 250 years of unquestioned power. With ordinary citizens beginning to revolt openly, the Qing Dynasty has created a powerful, modern army (the "New Army") to quash any rebellion. But weapons are expensive, and desperate for cash, the Qing leaders are trading anything they can get their hands on with foreign countries... and selling China

The trailer can be seen over at Apple Trailers in high definition. It certainly looks epic.
