Maniac red band trailer is really gory, but does it make it good?

Maniac2012.jpgI wasn't that excited about seeing a remake of a classic slasher film, all I thought we would get would be a modern day teen based horror film with no real horror as it meets that all important pre-teen cinematic audience group.

However it surprised me when Elijah Wood was lined up for the lead and this new trailer has surprised me even more. The Maniac red band trailer is truly red band and looks surprisingly interesting and stylish, oh and did I mention it's incredibly gory?

Seriously, this is an eighteen only trailer and does feature some serious gore, not like the usual red band trailers you see that maybe feature some mild swearing, nudity or something else the ancient elders of the MPAA feel upset them, this is gory.

Here's the blurb for Maniac:

.Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Franks obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.

The film remakes the original written by Joe Spinell and C.A. Rosenberg and directed by William Lustig. The new version also has Rosenberg credited as a writer along with Alexandre Aja and Grégory Levasseur and is directed by Franck Khalfoun who wrote and directed P2.

The trailer is really what sells the film though, and here is that trailer for Maniac through TrailerAddict:
