Emperor trailer has Fox Lost in post-war Japan

MatthewFox.jpgMatthew Fox is taking some diversions of late trying to lose that image he still carries from Lost and his character in Alex Cross looks like it's shattered that completely allowing him freedom for other roles, roles such as this one in The Emperor.

The film looks at a short time period after the war where General MacArthur arrived in Japan with his staff to try and make a recommendation on whether America should prosecute the Emperor of Japan and if he had prior knowledge of the attacks on Pearl Harbor.

While Tommy Lee Jones plays General Douglas MacArthur, Matthew Fox plays General Bonner Fellers, the man who MacArthur tasks with carrying out the investigation, the film is directed by Peter Webber who you'll know also directed Hannibal Rising and Girl with a Pearl Earring and was co-written by Vera Blasi and David Klass, Klass wrote Kiss the Girls, Desperate Measures and co-wrote Walking Tall (Filmstalker review).

The trailer looks a bit ragged at times but it does look at a powerful time in the history of World War II and moving onto the real world, it's also a time filled with complications and shades of grey, as real life often is. Emperor has some powerful potential.

Here's the trailer for Emperor which comes through Deadline and seems to be due for release this year although I'm not sure how far that release is going to stretch.
