World War Z trailer is stunningly good

WorldWarZ.jpgRight I'm back from my snowboarding holiday and trying to get caught up, which quite frankly is going to take a lot longer than just today but I have to start somewhere, and what cooler place to start than with a new trailer for World War Z?

I am one of the people who have held the original book in high regard, and so much so that I have found the idea of turning the film into an action one rather disappointing. However, that was until I saw this trailer.

Sure this is now action galore throughout but the core of the story is there and the mission of the character played by Brad Pitt is preserved. I wonder if this film will manage to satisfy the fans of the novel and make the action fans happy to.

Here's a quick blurb for World War Z in case you've forgotten:

United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

The film was written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, although J. Michael Straczynski did write the original version from the Max Brooks novel but that version seems to have been pushed aside for this new, more action packed version. Carnahan previously wrote State of Play, Lions for Lambs (Filmstalker review) and The Kingdom (Filmstalker review).

It's directed by Marc Forster who previously directed Machine Gun Preacher (Filmstalker review), Quantum of Solace (Filmstalker review), The Kite Runner, Finding Neverland and Monster's Ball, mostly really good films and all the names included suggest way more than a straight action film.

The film stars Brad Pitt, Matthew Fox, David Morse, Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale and a bunch of other recognisable actors so it's no small production either, something that is backed up by seeing the trailer itself.

Here is that new trailer for World War Z which comes through TrailerAddict:

I'm so into it now.
