Case 39 trailer online

A poor quality but very strong trailer for Case 39 has appeared online, and I have to say it's looking damn good. After seeing this I have to wonder what the studio have been thinking about when they dropped the film from their slate.

Not only that but Christian Alvart directed the film, and that suggests a hell of a lot to me after his superb Antikörper (Antibodies) (Filmstalker review), and then there's the cast with Renée Zellweger, Ian McShane, Adrian Lester and Bradley Cooper. Now there's the trailer.

I really liked the trailer which quickly builds the tension and shock value, and there are some great shock moments.

One of my biggest fears was that we had already heard all about the big twist in the story regarding the child, but this is just the beginning and isn't a reveal at all.

Case 39 was to tell the story of a social worker who manages to save a ten year old child from her abusive parents, but in doing so she finds out that the girl is not as innocent as she seems.

There you go, there was the big twist that I thought was going to ruin it all, but watch the trailer and you can see that the twist is nowhere near that, this is just the beginning of the story and the best is to come.

Looking at this I have no idea why the studio have done what they did, with Renée Zellweger leading an interesting cast with the huge talent of Christian Alvart directing the story from the keyboard of Ray Wright, screenwriter of the Pulse and The Crazies remakes. Hopefully we'll get to see this released somewhere other than DVD.
